Munchausen: Extremely plausible reason - there has to be one as to why this was avoided at the BS & TMS level.

Why didn't we ever study "Mankind's Search For God"?
by gubberningbody inwas there an official or unofficial reason that anyone knows of?.
it seems to me that pretty much every publication was studied at the book study, but we never did that one..

I was an elder, BSO and 36 in 1990 when it was released. It was never studied, how do I know this? In June to celebrate my "inactivity" I purged my personal library. I kept every book I had ever studied - including my original Revelation, Grand Climax!, with adjustments and extensve marginal notes, which was typical of my study approach. The MSFG book lacked any such notations. I too was always confused as to why this book was not studied.
I do recall the occasional times it was to be the offer for the month and I would take a fair amount of time to review at the FS arrangement including asking questions that were in the book, discussions about various religions we might encounter in or territory and such. I suspect that this might be the reason that some think it was studied at the Book Study level.

When I was in Administration we were never permitted to use the box suites even if the owners/companies were willing to offer them to me.

Help with Doubting BIL
by Simon Morley ini have a bil that has started to doubt.
he is hung up on the fact that he sees jw's as the only one fullfilling the preaching of the good news.
i am sure there are some excellent past posts on this topic and would be happy to get them.

I don't want to put everyone to a lot of wok to restate (the obvious) but some ammo would be good as to how you ahev dealth with this topic currently or in the pst with family members. My BIL has stopped going to meetings and our in FS for over a month now.

Why are you here, Bane?
by dgp ini was wondering.
not that i have anyone in mind (except for bane).
what motivates an active and zealous jehovah's witness to come to a website like this one and insult everyone for being apostates, et cetera?
-

I wonder....Darth Bane (like that other Sith Lord Darth TeddyJ), was responsible for creating the "Rule of Two". This would totally fit a dub - maybe Bane is the human female apprentice he took on?
Also, only an uneducated dub would fall into the grammatical trap of adjectivizing a noun - "weez cum to bibleize 'n scripturize youze this mornin'".
Or perhaps he is actually going to scripturize us with christian gift items, wedding favors, christian party favors, church give-aways and all-occasion gift items found at scripturize.com?.

Circuit Overseers, their roles, and their spouses
by garyneal inmy wife and i took a trip yesterday to deliver her camera to her mom so she may take it with her as she goes to kentucky where the need is greattm.
her mom is currently still in virginia staying with some brothers there while she gets schooled in giving talks (at least i think that is what she is doing).
i met the co's wife at the petersburg kh and after we dropped the camera off, my wife and i went to have dinner before returning home.. i ask about circuit overseers and their role because i was intrigued to learn that the kh we went to had an apartment for the co.. apparently, co's have no job of their own outside the watchtower activities and while my wife insisted that they did not 'take a vow of poverty' like the catholic clergy do, they technically do.

other things they are a burden to a circuit (from the recent CO):
1 Apt with free telephone/internet/fax line - CO "insisted on a high speed connection" (probably so he can monitor this post of mine or prepare talks on Girls Gone Wild)
2 Apt with free cable and a really nice HD ready LCD TV and the HD package (must have sports)
3 Apt with a new Gas BBQ every 3 - 4 years (the old one (3 years old was not "big" enough
4 Whip round of the elder bodies to help him take a nice trip home
In 25 years I only met no more than 4 that were "great couples". The others included one who was known for "copping a feel' fo younger sisters every visit, made me throw up. MOST CO's always had the "important-Branch-work-to-take-care-of-this-afternoon-so-I-wont-be-out-routine". MOST of the wives were unapproachable unless they approached you (form of validation). I was shocked at how many had dietary restrictions - I swear being CO's wife (and many of the CO's) comes equipped with IBS or worse IBD. The number of letters that had "and by the way we are both alergic to this and that, can't eat, this and that - we don't drink alcohol, we get hives with red wine....no wonder no one wants them over - all you can serve is a cold glass of water and left over bread from the last Memorial celebration.

The Guilt Trip
by odie67 ini was doing just fine.
then not too long ago i got a call from an old jw friend not on purpose really(thats another subject).
anyway we went through the "how are you" type thing.

Recently I had the same experience and was loathed to somehow give one morsel of how I trully felt, lest they run away and tell their friends a juicy bit of gossip. Further, any intimation of the real resson for my families fade would result in a charge of apostacy and the inevitable JC to silence me once and for all.
I oped for saying something that would not only produce a quizzical look, be every bit honest with myself, but would get them thinking and leave them without any real comeback. I simply told them that I got baptized for the wrong, selfish motive of wanting personal salvation at the end of the "System of Things" and not really caring about the people I called on, loving God or his Son, comments I made at meetings were hollow, parts I had in the school were not how I really felt, talks I gave as an elder were self-serving,etc. Until I reconcile this imperfect feeling I would be serving with a wrong motive and needed to set matters straight myself first..... seems to have worked.

Ex-Elders please advice on my first Public Talk as a MS.
by african GB Member inthe topic is- "young people: serve jehovah wholeheartedly".. i'd appreciate various points that would make this talk appealing to my cong.
youths, but please keep it within jw boundaries because i don't want to give my elders any hint of me being an apostate yet.. i have to say that i am still enjoying my newly given "priviledges'', and am still so surprised that holy spirit has'nt pointed me out yet.. agbm.

Given that talks were cut down to 30 minutes from 45 minutes, there is not much room for adding anything. Anyone who has developed a talk will realize that the outline points, scriptures that must be "READ" and associated reference provided, you are covered for 28 out of 30 minutes. You get 1 minute at the beginning and end to express yourself and give everyone a hint of your personality. Apart from that your talk will sound like any other talk given on the same topic.
That is what the WTS wants - you to simply parrot what they have written.

The Elder Situation
by metatron ini was speaking with an older sister who is quite zealous and she is typical of many who are concerned that men are not reaching out.
she notes that young men in particular have no interest in doing anything, congregation-wise.. the change in this area is quite dramatic, if you can remember that once, being an elder was an aspiration of nearly every brother - and we had plenty of young men to run the mics and hand out magazines.
i once pointed out to a c.o.

Who in their right mind would want the liability - physically, emotionally and spiritually?
